Hey, guys! Just wanted to let everyone know that I'm closing down my web site, which is www.beardiebuddies.com. I've transferred most of the photos over to my Flickr account, and you can get to it here:

www.flickr.com/photos/indydi

The picture sets are all on the right. Just click on those, and it will take you into each set. It's a little more organized looking at them that way.

It's a lot easier to keep things updated this way, and it's less expensive and more comprehensive too (can include family and dog shots), so I decided to do away with the web site. I'll soon upload my leopard gecko shots, and maybe some ferret pics too. As soon as I can put in new URLs for the pictures I have in the KCS section, I'll close it out.

Also, got a new camera that I LOVE, a Panasonic fz35 (hated my last Canon, and soon after just quit taking pictures altogether), so hopefully I can get some more recent shots up. We are going to rearrange our group here and will be able to move Jethro, Casey, and Emily upstairs to the fancy cage, so that will be nice. Everyone is getting old now, and we've lost several. Unfortunately, they're all about the same age, so they will likely go in bunches.

Hi Di,

Just curious which Canon you "hated"? I just got a new Canon and really like it, so I've started taking pix again.

HEY, John! How are you guys??

It was an old-ish A540, 6 MP point & shoot. Pics weren't very clear (Canons are known for having "soft" images, but I didn't know that when I bought it), and many times it would just refuse to take the picture. Indoor photos were H.O.R.R.I.B.L.E. When I look at my folders of pics, there's a sharp drop off in volume soon after I got that thing.

Which Canon do you have? A DSLR? They do make some good DSLR's, although I doubt I'll ever trust a Canon again. I looked at the SX20IS superzoom, just to be sure, but it didn't have filter threads or raw format, and it used AA batteries, which add weight and bulk and hassle. I love my new Panasonic. It has all the manual control of an SLR. (I sound like a commercial).

There's a user on Flickr named Happy_Peasant who has my camera and takes professional quality photos with it all the time. I'll never be that good, but it sure helps to have a camera that is capable.

If I ever go the SLR route, it will probably either be a Nikon or one of Panasonic's new micro four-thirds cameras like the G1.

Howdy Diane,

We are doing great. It's kidding time with our Miniture Silkie Fainting Goats, so it's busy time watching and waiting. Had our first kid yeasterday, a little doeling. Four pounds of extreme cuteness!!!!

I have a Canon EOS 50D. It's an SLR, that came with a 28-135mm zoom. It has a ba-zillion bells and whistles that I have yet to really explore. So far most of the stuff I taken was on full auto, but have dabbled in appature (sp) priority and shutter priority.

I've had Canon's for years, so need to see if my "old" lenses will fit. Actually the only one I want to use is my 500mm, mirror telephoto. It has a fixed appature (sp) at f-8. I have two Canon 35mm bodies and don't know what to do with, an FT and an F1 or AF1, I haven't used them is so long, I don'e even remember.

Before the Canon we used an Olympus and have had two Nikon Cool-Pix.
Sold the Oly and the first Nikon. Jackie still uses the newer Nikon.

Getting to long winded for a post, so will end this mess.

Seems like forever since I flew Navarre down there.

You lucky dog, with a DSLR. I thought about going that route, but didn't because of the expense, and the bulk of carrying everything around. I take my camera and camcorder with me many times, so I think I'd need a full-blown suitcase.

Mine gives me all the manual control of an SLR, so it's good training for my future one if it ever happens. I do like to set my own aperture, shutter speed, ISO, and it's got so many other bells and whistles. I've been reading about how to use an SLR, and all those same controls exist on my camera. Someday I will probably get one, maybe used, and see if it gives me anything else. I'm just glad to have a camera I love again. It's been a long time!

We were just talking the other day about when you flew Navarre down. It does seem like a hundred years ago. Putting all the pics up on Flickr has prompted me to go thru them all again and remember everything.

Our hard drive on the Gateway desktop has gone bad so I probably won't be uploading any more until next week, when hopefully it's fixed. I'm borrowing my daughter's netbook for this.

I have no idea what those fainting goats are. I'm going to google it and see what they look like. Sounds like fun.
